Pearl and Two Volunteers Part Ways: Tennessee coach Bruce Pearl has kicked sophomores Duke Crews and Ramar Smith off the team. Pearl said the dismissals are the culmination of several problems that each player has had. Smith averaged 7.4 points and 3.2 assists per game last season, and Crews added 5.4 points and 4.0 rebounds per game after overcoming a heart condition that forced him to miss some time. Crews and Smith will transfer to another school, Pearl said. [5/07/08]

Lofton Dealt With Cancer Before Season: Tennessee senior guard Chris Lofton had surgery and radiation treatment in spring 2007 to treat testicular cancer, which doctors found after Lofton was selected for a random drug tests. During the evaluation, doctors found high levels of a hormone that led them to the cancer diagnosis. Lofton started the 2007-08 season, and coach Bruce Pearl said he attributes that to Lofton's off-season treatment. By the end of his senior season, Lofton had 431 three-pointers for his career, which is good for third all-time in NCAA history. [5/06/08]

Hansbrough Transfers to Notre Dame: Ben Hansbrough informed Notre Dame coach Mike Brey of his decision to transfer to the university Monday night after visiting South Bend, Ind., this past weekend. Hansbrough is the younger brother of National Player of the Year Tyler Hansbrough. Tyler's younger brother will sit out this upcoming year and will be eligible for the 2009-10 season. [4/30/08]

Tennessee's Tyler Smith Stays in School: Tyler Smith, who was projected to be a first-round NBA Draft pick, will stay at Tennessee. The 6-7 small forward averaged 14 points, seven rebounds, and three assists a game last year for the Volunteers. [4/28/08]

Mississippi State Guard Gordon to Enter Draft: Mississippi State junior guard Jamont Gordon will enter the NBA Draft. Gordon said he has not signed with an agent but is likely to soon. Gordon averaged 17 points, six rebounds, and five assists per game last season and said he is likely to be a first-round pick. [4/23/08]

Jasper Thinks About Leaving Wildcats: Coach Billy Gillispie said sophomore guard Derrick Jasper might leave the team to move closer to California because he is homesick. Jasper is one of Kentucky's few returning guards. He averaged 4.2 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game for the Wildcats. [4/21/08]

Kentucky Guard Undergoes Surgery:Kentucky sophomore guard Jodie Meeks had surgery Saturday to repair a bilateral sports hernia. Meeks' injuries held him to only 11 games while averaging 8.8 points in 23.2 minutes. He wasn't the only Wildcat to go under he knife as Patrick Patterson had a stress fracture in his left ankle repaired earlier this month. [4/16/08]

J.P. Prince Out 2-3 Months: Tenessee guard J.P. Prince will miss two to three months after undergoing reconstructive surgery on his left shoulder. Prince, who averaged eight points and three rebounds per game last season and was voted the SEC's Sixth Man of the Year, will be ready to practice again by October. [4/15/08]

Florida Forward to Transfer: Jonathan Mitchell, a sophomore forward, is transferring from Florida. Mitchell averaged three points and two rebounds per game for the Gators, playing a little more than 11 minutes a game. Mitchell's playing time might have been even more limited next year with three highly touted big men coming to Gainesville. [4/15/08]

LSU Freshman to Leave for NBA: LSU freshman forward Anthony Randolph will not play under new coach Trent Johnson and has signed with an agent and will enter the NBA Draft. Randolph, a likely lottery pick, averaged 16 points, nine rebounds, and two blocks per game for the Tigers. Fellow LSU players Marcus Thornton and Chris Johnson might also go pro. [4/15/08]

Alabama's Backcourt Gets Thinner for 2008-09: Alabama guards Rico Pickett and Justin Tubbs were granted releases from their scholarships, a move that allows them to transfer. Pickett, a freshman point guard, started 20 games and averaged nearly six points per game. Tubbs appeared in 18 games and averaged three points per game. [4/10/08]

LSU Wants to Bring Johnson to the Bayou: According to sources familiar with LSU's coaching search, the Tigers plan to hire Stanford coach Trent Johnson to replace John Brady. LSU fired Brady near the end of the season, and assistant Butch Pierre finished the season as interim coach. In four seasons with the Cardinal, Johnson led Stanford to an 80-48 record and took the team to the Sweet 16 this past season. He helped bring twin 7-footers Brook and Robin Lopez to Stanford, giving the Cardinal one of the most dominating front lines in the Pac-10. Both Lopez twins announced that they are entering the NBA Draft. [4/09/08]

Steele Hopes Scouts Remember His Skills: Alabama point guard Ronald Steele hasn't played in a game in more than a year, but the Crimson Tide junior announced that he will enter the NBA Draft and won't hire an agent. Steele missed this season after undergoing three knee surgeries. Steele averaged 14.3 points per game in his sophomore season and considered a jump to the NBA after that season. [4/09/08]

Randolph Throws His Name in the Draft: LSU freshman forward Anthony Randolph will enter the NBA Draft without an agent -- at least not yet. One of the SEC's best defensive players, Randolph averaged 15.6 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game in one season with the troubled Tigers. LSU fired coach John Brady toward the end of the season, though Randolph said the coaching change will not play a part in his decision to remain in the draft. [4/09/08]

Gator Center Nips at the Draft: Florida freshman center Marreese Speights will test the NBA Draft waters, announcing that he'll enter the draft without hiring an agent. In one season under coach Billy Donovan, Speights averaged 14.5 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. Although Speights flashed professional abilities, he often struggled to stay on the court because of fatigue or foul trouble. He averaged only 24.3 minutes per game. [4/09/08]
