Texas A&M's Carter to Enter Draft: Josh Carter, a junior swingman for Texas A&M, has announced he will enter the NBA Draft. Carter, who led the country in three-point shooting two seasons ago, has not hired an agent. Carter is the second Aggies player, following 7-foot freshman DeAndre Jordan, to test the NBA Draft waters this year. [4/28/08]

Two From Missouri Enter NBA Draft: DeMarre Carroll and Leo Lyons, two starters for Missouri, have both entered the NBA Draft without hiring an agent, meaning they could return to school. Lyons led the Big 12 in field goal percentage at 53.1 percent and led the team in scoring with 13 points a game. Carroll averaged 13 points and seven rebounds a game last season. [4/28/08]

Ford Suspends Junior Guard: One of new Oklahoma State coach Travis Ford's first moves is suspending junior guard Terrel Harris. Ford said in a statement that Harris violated a team rule and did not specify a length for the suspension. Harris averaged 10.5 points per game for the Cowboys last season. [4/28/08]

Chalmers Hopes Heroics Earn NBA Credit: Kansas junior guard Mario Chalmers is entering the NBA Draft without hiring an agent, so the Jayhawks' savior in the NCAA championship game can collect feedback and return to school if he doesn't like his projected draft status. Chalmers averaged 12.8 points and 4.3 assists per game last season, but Chalmers needs to prove that he can play point guard in the NBA to improve his stock. The latest projections place Chalmers toward the end of the first round or beginning of the second round. Chalmers wants a first-round guarantee or he said he'll return to school. [4/27/08]

Longhorn Guards Leave for NBA Draft: Texas guards D.J. Augustin and A.J. Abrams have entered the NBA Draft but haven't hired agents, so they could return to Austin. Augustin averaged 19.2 points and 5.8 assists per game last season, and Abrams added 16.5 points per game and led Texas with 118 three-pointers. The two guards would make Texas a national title contender next season if they return. Augustin will likely be the second-best point guard in the draft, behind Memphis' Derrick Rose. [4/27/08]

Ford's Deal Approved: Oklahoma State's Travis Ford will receive $9 million over seven years after the Oklahoma A&M Board of Regents approved the new coach's contract. Ford has not signed the deal yet because the details are still being worked out, but his contract started Friday and will last through June 30, 2015. He was the coach at Massachusetts for the past three seasons and led the Minutemen to the NIT championship game last season. Ford replaces Sean Sutton, who resigned after pressure from the university. [4/24/08]

Colorado Loses Freshman Big Man: Colorado coach Jeff Bzdelik was disappointed to announce that freshman forward Caleb Patterson asked for a release from his scholarship and will transfer to another school after the spring semester. Patterson averaged 1.4 points and 1.4 rebounds in 14 games last season. [4/24/08]

Sherron Collins Undergoes Surgery: Kansas' Sherron Collins underwent successful arthroscopic knee surgery. Collins had missed six games this year while recovering from a different injury and is expected to make a full recovery. Collins, the Jayhawks' sixth man this year, could be their most experienced player next year, depending on who else decides to leave for the NBA Draft. [4/23/08]

Top Prep Recruit to Leave Juco for NBA: In 2005, Keith Brumbaugh was one of the top recruits in college basketball. But after one year of playing in junior college - as well as some jail time - Brumbaugh is ready to pursue the NBA. The 22-year-old Brumbaugh was Mr. Basketball in Florida and signed with Oklahoma State out of high school but never became eligible with the Cowboys. He played for Hillsborough Community College in Tampa last year and led the nation with 36.5 points, 10 boards, six assists, and five steals per game. Brumbaugh, a likely second-round pick, was once arrested six times over a 26-month span and has served two prison sentences. [4/23/08]

Cowboys Select Ford: Oklahoma State has hired Massachusetts' Travis Ford to become the Cowboys' next coach. Ford comes to Stillwater after leading the Minutemen to the NIT championship game this past season. He compiled a 62-35 record in three seasons with Massachusetts and had the Minutemen competing among the Atlantic 10's elite. The Cowboys hope Ford can do the same in the Big 12 with Oklahoma State. The university and former coach Sean Sutton cut ties earlier this month after the son of legendary Cowboy coach Eddie Sutton failed to meet lofty expectations. [4/21/08]

Jayhawks Look to Cash in on Title: Fresh off a national championship, a pair of Jayhawks will enter the NBA Draft. Junior guard Brandon Rush is done in Lawrence and will hire an agent while sophomore forward Darrell Arthur will enter the draft without an agent, at least until he hears a projection that convinces him to remain in the draft. Rush tested the NBA Draft process last season but tore his ACL in a pickup game and had to return to school. Players can only declare for the draft and return to school once. Rush led the Jayhawks with 13.3 points per game. Arthur was one of Kansas' leading scorers at 12.8 points per game. [4/21/08]

Martin Stays A Wildcat: Frank Martin became Kansas State's coach in summer 2007 and now has signed a retroactive five-year contract to keep him with the Wildcats through the 2011-12 season. Martin was only the second rookie coach in school history to lead his team to an NCAA Tournament berth. The Wildcats were 21-12 and beat Southern California for their first NCAA Tournament victory in 20 years before losing to Wisconsin in the second round. [4/19/08]

Former Missouri Player Pleads Guilty: Stefhon Hannah pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of peace disturbance for fighting outside a nightclub. After his misdemeanor assault charge was reduced, Hannah was sentenced to two years unsupervised probation and 20 hours of community service. Hannah broke his jaw during the fight and returned home to recover. He was kicked off the team for missing class. [4/19/08]

Beasley Goes Pro: Surprising no one, Kansas State freshman forward Michael Beasley is leaving for the NBA, saying the money will help him care for his family. Beasley, a 6-10 forward, averaged 26 points and 12 rebounds per game for the Wildcats, leading the country in the second statistic. The versatile Beasley can play inside and shoots 37 percent from three-point range. He led the Wildcats to their first NCAA victory in 20 years, was named to numerous All-American teams, and could be the No. 1 pick in the draft. [4/15/08]

Freshman Guard to Depart Washington State: Stephen Sauls was granted a release from Washington State and will transfer to Texas, which is closer to his home in Missouri City. He withdrew from classes and returned home to receive treatment for a concussion he got in practice Jan. 7. Washington State will ask for him to receive a medical hardship so that he can keep four years of eligibility. He averaged just 2.1 points in eight games this season. [4/13/08]
