Tournament Rules
This contest is not intended to be used as a gambling device, but strictly for entertainment purposes only. The NCAA does not promote, endorse or condone gambling or sports wagering of any kind. The NCAA membership has adopted specific legislation prohibiting athletic department staff members, conference office staff, national office staff and student-athletes from engaging in sports gambling activities as they relate to intercollegiate or professional sporting events.

1. MEANS OF ENTRY: Entries will be accepted from 8:00 AM Mountain Time on March 13, 2000 until prior to the tip-off of the first tournament game, at 9:30 AM MT March 16, 2000.

2. METHOD: Entrants will pick who they think will win every game in the 2000 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament. Points will be earned for each game picked correctly. Point values increase as the tournament progresses toward the men's championship game.

3. ENTRY Identical entries from the same individual will not be accepted. Multiple entries are permitted from one individual, so long as each entry is unique. No Tournament materials shall be returned.

4. WINNER SELECTION The First Prize winner shall be the individual that has accumulated the highest number of points in the tournament. The Second Prize winner shall be the individual that has accumulated the second highest number of points in the tournament. The Third Prize winner is the individual that has accumulated the third highest number of points in the tournament. The Fourth Prize winner is the individual that has accumulated the fourth highest number of points in the tournament. The Fifth Prize winner is the individual that has accumulated the fifth highest number of points in the tournament.In the event that there is a tie for any of the aforementioned places, each individual will share an equal share of the combined place winnings. The "Stick to Football" winner is the individual whose entry accumulates the fewest points in the tournament.

5. PRIZES: The First Prize winner shall receive 70% of the net winnings, with the Second Prize winner receiving 20% of the net winnings, and the Third Prize winner receiving 10% of the net winnings. The net winnings are determined after the Fourth, Fifth, and "Stick to Football" winnings are accounted for. The Fourth Prize winner shall receive 3 times their entry fee (on the winning entry), and the Fifth Prize winner shall receive 2 times their entry fee (on their winning entry). The "Stick to Football" Prize winner will receive a good-spirited refund of their entries' fee. The winners will be notified by phone and email no later than Thursday, April 6th, 2000, if they have not already claimed their prize.

6. ELIGIBILITY: This promotion is open to all associates and colleagues and their immediate family members who are 18 years or older as of the date of entry.

7. TERMS: By participating entrants agree (a) to abide by these Official Rules and by the decisions of the judges, which are final on all matters pertaining to this promotion, and (b) release and hold harmless and parties of Hoopville, and the NCAA (and their parents, affiliates, divisions, directors, subsidiaries, officers, principals, shareholders, employees and agents, and their advertising and promotion agencies and promotional partners) from any and all liability, claims for damages, losses or injuries of any kind resulting from (i) altered, late, lost, damaged, misdirected, mutilated, incomplete, illegible, stolen, incomplete entries or human, telephone, computer, online, or technical malfunctions (including busy lines and disconnections), or (ii) their participation and the acceptance, possession or use, or misuse, of a prize. This promotion is governed by, and these rules will be construed and interpreted pursuant to, the laws of the United States. Entrants agree that Sponsors make no warranty, guaranty or representation of any kind concerning any prize, and disclaim any implied warranty. Participants that do not submit their entry requirement by March 16th, 2000 without making arrangements with Hoopville forfeit their claim to a prize, and are then considered participating for enjoyment of the tournament only. Restrictions, conditions, and limitations apply. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply.

8. CONDUCT: Sponsors reserve the right at their sole discretion to disqualify any individual they find to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the promotion or web site; to be acting in violation of the Official Rules; or to be acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person. Sponsors reserve the right to lock out an entrant whose eligibility is in question or who has been disqualified or is otherwise ineligible to enter. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT OR ANY OTHER INDIVIDUAL TO DELIBERATELY ALTER OR DAMAGE ANY WEB SITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE PROMOTION IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSORS RESERVE THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH ENTRANT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

9. LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY: The Sponsors are not responsible for typographical or other errors in the offer or administration of this promotion, including but not limited to errors in advertising, the Official Rules, the selection and announcement of the winners or the distribution of the prizes, nor are Sponsors responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by web site users or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the promotion or by any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of submissions in the promotion. Sponsors assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft of or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. Sponsors are not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of email or entrants due to or resulting from technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site or combination thereof, including injury or damage to participants or to any other person's computer related to or resulting from participating or downloading materials in this promotion. If, for any reason, the promotion is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Sponsors, which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this promotion, Sponsors reserve the right at their sole discretion to cancel, terminate, or suspend the promotion and in such event to select the winners by random drawing from all valid entries received up to the time of such cancellation, termination or suspension.
